Abstract

1,046,023. Calculating-apparatus. J. CHURTON. Feb. 20, 1963 [Nov. 22, 1961], No. 41838/61. Heading G4B. A slide rule has linear scales 10, 11 and 32 to 37 which co-operate through a cursor 12 with movable scales 15 to 18 formed from pairs of variables represented by distances along coordinate axes, the product of the variables being represented by distances along lines parallel to the linear scales. The rule is calibrated to solve heating problems and an example is given of calculating the amount of anthracite necessary to heat a house constructed of specific materials by means of a system of given efficiency.
