Abstract

Novel compounds of the Formula I wherein R1 and R2 represent hydrogen atoms or C1- 5\t alkyl, N,N-dimethylaminopropyl, phenyl or benzyl radicals; R3 represents a radical of the Formula II wherein X represents an oxygen atom or an imino group and A and B represent alkyl radicals or they represent an alkylene chain joined with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded to form a ring, said ring being optionally interrupted by an oxygen atom or by a further tertiary nitrogen atom; and R5 represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkoxy, allyloxy or benzyloxy group and salts thereof are prepared by reacting a substituted indole-3-carboxylic acid of the Formula III, or the acid chloride or an ester thereof with a base of the Formula IV by a method known per se to produce a compound of the Formula I or a salt thereof. <FORM:1045988/C2/1> <FORM:1045988/C2/2> <FORM:1045988/C2/3> <FORM:1045988/C2/4> 1 - Benzyl - 2 - methyl - 5 - benzyloxy - indole-3-carboxylic acid chloride may be prepared by treating the corresponding acid with thionyl chloride. Therapeutic compositions for use as agents for controlling blood circulation and for local anaesthetics comprise compounds of the Formula I or salts thereof with a pharmaceutically compatible carrier therefor.
