Abstract

A pesticidal composition for killing pests including endoporasites comprises (a) a compound of the formula: <FORM:1044663/A5-A6/1> where m and n each represent the number 1 or 2, R and R1 each represents an alkyl radical having up to 4 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical, R11 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, X, X1 and Z each represent oxygen or sulphur, Hal represents halogen and Y represents a halogen or hydrogen atom e.g. DDVP and (b) colophony or an ester thereof, or an adduct of colophony with maleic orphthalic anhydride. There may also be present (c) silica, or a silicate and (d) a carbohydrate, or a mixture containing carbohydrates and/or proteins which is ingestable by pests e.g. saccharose, honey, powdered milk, protein hydrolysates, honey and sugar and (f) a red dye attractant. Specified forms are press cakes, brushable baits, emulsion concentrates, spray solutions and dispersions, wettable powders, granules and dusts. The compositions may contain (1) surfactants which are (a) non-ionic e.g. alcohol, thioalcohol, amine or long chain aliphatic carboxylic and condensates of ethylene oxide (b) anionic e.g. alkaryl sulphonates, alkali metal or triethanolamine-oleates or abietates and alkali metal salts of petroleum sulphonic acids and (e) cationic e.g. quaternary ammonium salts (ii) solid carriers e.g. talc, kaolin, bentonite, sand or cork or wood meal (iii) fatty acids, glues, caseins or alginates (iv) solvents e.g. petroleum oils, coal tar oils, animal and vegetable oils, naphthalenes, xylenes, cyclohexanols, ketones, trichlorethylene and chlorobenzenes (v) phenolic antioxidants (vi) P.V.C. and (vii) animal fodder which may contain antibiotics and/or hormones and vitamins e.g. thiamine, riboflavin, ascorbic or vitamin B12.
