Abstract
1,044,105. Vehicle stop lights. K. KAIPER. April 2, 1965 [May 29, 1964], No. 22212/65. Heading F4R. A vehicle stop light is mounted on an elongated member connected to the top of the vehicle body. The cross-sectional shape of the member is such that the resistance to bending in the direction of travel of the vehicle is greater than that in the transverse direction. The light 21 is carried in a cap 20 behind a cover of red transparent material. The cap is mounted on the first member 19 of a series of telescoping tubular members 17, 18, 19, the member 17 being soldered to a base 11 fixed to the vehicle roof 10 by insulated bolts 15 passing through the roof and being secured to a plate 12, insulating plates 13, 14 being interposed between the plates 11, 12 and the roof 10. The electric leads 24, 25 are bent to form interfitting spirals within the tubular members 17, 18, 19 and are connected to a switch co-operating with the brake pedal. It is stated that the members 17, 18, 19 may also serve as a radio antenna.
