Sheet material, finishing edges of.-Comprises an improved method of finishing the edges of pieces of leather by curling as described in the parent Specification. The edge of the leather is skived as shown in Fig. 2, and treated with a plastic material that has the property of shrinking on drying, so curling the edge as shown in Fig. 4. A solution of celluloid, for example in a mixture of acetone and alcohol, may be employed, and a small amount of a resinous gum may be added. The edge may also be moulded or burnished. Fig. 5 shows the application of a piece of leather as a toe tip.
