A prefabricated room comprises a sub-floor 5 rigidly attached to or formed with the walls 1, 2 thereof, a continuous recess or gap 8 being provided between the base of the walls (or an inwardly projecting member located near the base of the walls) and the sub-floor, and a layer 6 of material forming the floor supported on the sub-floor with its edges free to expand or contract in said recess or gap.
