Abstract

A new method of producing 3,5-diiodothyronines comprises the steps of converting racemic or optically active 3,5-diiodotyrosine to a metal complex of cations which form complexes with amino-acids, reacting said complex in the presence of bases with a 4,41-dialkoxy-diphenyliodonium salt to form a 3,5-diiodo-4-p-alkoxy-phenoxyphenylalanine and dealkylating the latter to the corresponding 3,5-diiodothyronine.
