Abstract

1,038,975. Seed distributers. R. GRANT. June 7, 1963 [June 7, 1962], No. 22006/62. Heading B2F. A device, Fig. 1, for dispensing seed &c. comprises a base member 1, a seed hopper 5, a strip of material 4 defining a path 6 for the seed to an edge of the base member, and a sheet 2 of transparent material covering at least a part of said path in such a manner as to enable the passage of the seed to be observed, an adjustable constriction 7 being provided between the hopper 5 and the path 6. The strip 4 is of metal and its corners which form part of the hopper are maintained in position by stride 8. A screw 9 is provided to adjust the constriction. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the seed path is formed between the strip 4 and a second strip 13, the constriction 7 being adjusted by movement of the ends 15 of the strip 4. The strip 4 and the sheet 2 are secured in position by screws 3 and the seed fall through an opening 12. In the embodiments of Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) a dispensing device is provided on each side of a base plate. The rate of seed feed may be varied by means of slides.
