Abstract

1,038,403. Machine tool details. HAYES ENGINEERS (LEEDS) Ltd. June 19, 1963 [March 20, 1962; Jan. 15, 1963], Nos. 10603/62 and 1769/63. Heading B3B. [Also in Division F2] A slide and guide assembly comprises circular guide bars 5 which are rotated to ensure a smooth sliding motion. The slide 4 and guide 1 include members 6, 7 which are adjustable to give a pre-loaded force on the guides to ensure a rigid position of rest. The bars may consist of a series of annular collars on a square bar or a series of spigoted sections 14, Fig. 4 (not shown). A single hydraulic or electric motor rotates the guides, through chain gearing, either continuously or while the slide is moving. Gravity or forced-feed lubrication or molybdenum disulphide impregnation may be provided for the bars. The guide bars may be on the movable member.
