Abstract
103,797. Hesketh, F. Oct. 16, 1916. Feeding and drinking appliances for animals.- A water or food trough for poultry dogs, cats, &c., in which the quantity of water may be varied in accordance with the size of the birds, &c. that use the trough, comprises a hody stamped out of sheet-metal as shown, or formed of earthenware and provided with one or two perforated adjustable partition members a, b, the member a having one side bent over in a double fold a', a<2> as shown. The member a may be clipped by its fold to either of the sides c<1>, c<2> of the body so as either to reduce the quantity of water exposed, or to form a means to suspend the trough as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. The second partition b, which is used when the partition a is arranged as a suspending-device, is either arranged as shown in Fig. 3, or is held between the folds of the partition a as shown in Fig. 9, which illustrates the use of the device as a selfsupplying hopper food-trough. One or other of the partitions may be arranged as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3, to prevent birds from perching on the trough. The trough may be used with either the side c<1> or c<2> uppermost. The sides of the trough are preferably outwardly inclined, in order to permit the release of the block of ice should the water in the trough be frozen.
