Abstract
1,036,633. Irradiation. BELMAG-ZURICH BELEUCHTUNGSUND METALLINDUSTRIE A.G. May 3, 1963 [May 3, 1962], No. 17569/63. Heading H5R. A device for the measurement and supervision of irradiations of the human body with an artificial sun lamp comprises a control clock 10 with a device for the setting of different radiation times, wherein with the clock there are associated various tables, e.g. a dial as shown in Fig. 2, on which the time intervals of radiations to be effected on different days are entered graphically, some of these tables being provided with a special colour pattern, which colour corresponds to a specific skin reddening caused by a test irradiation of specific time duration. The clock may actuate an acoustic signal which is instigated on the elapse of the set radiation time, the sun lamp being manually switched off with a switch 7 provided in the housing 6 of the clock, or the sun lamp may be automatically switched off by the clock. In operation, a test dial is positioned on the clock as shown, Fig. 5, and the pointer 12 of the clock moved to the commencement of the test time T. The redness of the skin, e.g. of a part of the arm, produced by this is compared with the colour present of the reverse of each dial, and the dial having the nearest colour is chosen as the subsequent day-to-day exposure control.
