Abstract

1,036,478. Paper-making apparatus. B. GHIGLIOTTI & L. GHIGLIOTTI. Aug. 15, 1963 [March 11, 1963], No. 32359/63. Heading D2A. [Also in Division B2] Resin coated paper waste is shredded, and a suspension of cellulosic fibres thus obtained is separated from comparatively large sized resin particles by continuously running the suspension through a separating strainer having such a mesh size to allow the suspension of cellulosic fibres to pass through while holding back the resin particles. The strainer comprises a rotating drum 8 covered with a wire cloth and mounted in an endless channel in a vat 1. The fibrous suspension flows from the drum interior through an opening 85 and over a flange 86 mounted on the vat into a duct 12. The resin particles float to the top of vat and are removed, either continuously or intermittently through an overflow duct. Vanes 84 on the drum assist in the circulation of the suspension in the vat. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the opening 85 is smaller and the fibrous suspension is scooped up to it by means of members extending the length of the drum between the centre and the periphery.
