Abstract
1,036,256. Parallel-connected push-pull amplifiers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. July 9, 1964 [July 18, 1963], No. 28386/64. Heading H3T. [Also in Division H2] The invention of Specification 1,035,874 for equalizing the proportion of load current taken by paralleled amplifying elements is applied to paralleled push-pull amplifiers. In Fig. 1 each side of a push-pull amplifier comprises three parallel transistors, the two sides being seriesconnected to supply a single-ended load 22. The respective emitter currents flow in opposite directions through windings 16/17, 26/27 and 36/37, and the secondaries 18. 28, 38 are connected series-aiding in a closed loop as in Specification 1,035,874. The amplifier may operate in Class B, C or S (supersaturated), in which case the bias is zero or negative; for Class A operation the polarity of the bias source 19 should be reversed. The load 22 may comprise a resistance, capacitance and inductance in series, in which case the D.C. source 13 is unnecessary as an average D.C. potential is built up across the capacitance in the load (Fig. 2, not shown).
