Abstract

Natural rubber latex, prior to being concentrated, is preserved by a method which comprises precipitating a copper-containing prosthetic group of an enzyme from the latex by means of a reagent capable of reacting with copper in the presence of ammonia. The exemplified reagent is zinc diethyldithiocarbamate. The precipitate and excess reagent are removed from the latex before concentration.
