A mattress angle sewing machine comprises an outer rectangular frame, a mattress-supporting table top carried by an inner frame having a central vertical column adjustably supported on the outer frame to provide an unobstructed area extending outwardly from the column between the top edge of the outer frame and the underside of the table top entirely around the latter, an electrical outlet rotatable on the column, and an electrical cable leading from said outlet through said area to a sewing head mounted for movement around the outer frame. The machine comprises an outer rectangular frame 60 having corner columns 62 supporting upper and lower guide rails 26 and 32 for a sewing head 20, the latter being actuated by a motor 10. An inner frame 86 has a central column 90 having upper radial arms 96 supporting a table top 84, and lower radial arms 92 having screwthreaded connections with vertical shafts 74 journalled in the columns 62, shafts 74 are rotated, for raising and lowering frames 86, by means of an endless sprocket chain 78 driven by a motor 82. An electric cable 104 passes through column 90 and is connected to slip rings within the latter. An electrical outlet 106, journalled on column 90, carries brushes which engage the slip rings and which are connected by a cable 114 to the motor 40. Cable 114 is supported by a pipe 116 fixed radially to outlet 106, and passes through the space between guide 26 and the table top 84.
