103,508. Marks, E. C. R., (Corona Typewriter Co.). Jan. 25, 1916. Folding machines; locking-devices; typelever machines; caseshift mechanism.- The main frame consists of a member arranged to move in an upright position on a stationary member, printing-devices being mounted on one memher and a platen-carriage on the other member. As shown, a member A<1>, supporting the platencarriage-B and associated mechanism, is pivoted at a to the front of a stationary member A supporting a keyboard comprising printing-keys, shiftkeys, and a space-key F, and a shift-segment in which type-levers C are mounted. The member A<1> encloses the member A and is provided at each side with a screw a<4>, which can be screwed into a hole a<7> in the member A to lock the member A<1> in the operative position, or can be screwed into a hole (not shown) to lock the member A<1> in the collapsed position shown, for transport. The holes are arranged adjacent to guide-flanges @@. The members are connected at each side by springs a<1>, which tend to raise the member A<1> and are strong enough to hold it in the operative position without employing the screws a<4>. Letter-spacing mechanism; ink-ribbon mechanism.-An escapement G, a ribbon-vibrator, and feed-devices for ribbon spools L<2> are mounted on the member A<1> and are operated bv a universal bar which is mounted on the member A<1> and is not connected to the keyboard. Line-spacing mechanism.-The line-spacing lever I is jointed at i and is swung inwards when the machine is to be collapsed.
