Abstract

1,034,240. Feeding sheets. KLIKLOK CORPORATION. Dec. 31, 1964 [Jan. 3, 1964], No. 52983/64. Heading B6B. Apparatus for feeding box blanks to a position 24 where they are folded comprises a magazine in which a stack 11 of blanks is supported on edge on rods, main suction nozzles 33 which transport the foremost blank B 2 from the stack to the folding position 24, and additional suction nozzles 25 to separate the foremost blank B 2 from the next blank B 3 before the main nozzles grasp the blank B 2 . Bottom lips 18, 19, 20, Fig. 1 (not shown), side lips 21, 22 and a top lip 17 engage the edges of the foremost blank. The nozzles 25 are carried by a bar 27 oscillated through a small angle, and as the nozzles engage the blank B 2 suction is applied thereto causing them to move the top part of the blank B 2 a slight distance away from the next blank due to the collapse of suction chambers 125. As the bar 27 rotates, the nozzles move the top part of the blank B 2 past the lip 17, and then the suction is cut off. At this instant, the main nozzles 33 engage a lower part of the blank, move horizontally and then downwardly and in a curved path to draw the blank past a horizontal guide bar 23 and away from the stack 11 into a horizontal position, and finally move vertically downwards to deposit the blank at the position 24. The nozzles 33 are carried by a bar 35 mounted at each end on a lever 37 pivoted between its ends to an oscillating driving lever 39, Fig. 5 (not shown). The end of each lever 37 opposite to the bar 35 has lengthwise guides 45, 46, Fig. 5, engaged by a roller 44, on an arm 50 pivoted at 53 and connected by a link 51 to the driving lever 39. This mechanism imparts the required movement to the nozzles 33. The bar 27 carrying the auxiliary nozzles 25 is also oscillated from the lever 39 through a link 32. The suction to the nozzles 25, 33 is controlled by a cylindrical valve member 59, 60, Figs. 7 ... 11 (not shown), having on its spindle 63 a vane 64 engaged by abutments 65, 66 carried by the drive lever 39.
