Abstract
103,341. Western Electric Co., and Nash, G. H. Jan. 25, 1916. Head-sets: receivers. -A telephone receiver is continuously applied to one ear of an aviator, and a second one applied to the other ear when communication is desired. The receiver is mounted in a casing in such a manner that it is insulated from external mechanical vibrations on all sides except that adapted to be applied to the ear; while the casing contains a circuit-changing switch which is operated by the pressure of the receiver against the ear. A receiver 11, Fig. 1, is mounted in the flap 17 of a helmet 10, while the other flap 16 is provided with an opening 12 to which a second receiver may be applied. The receiver 24, Fig. 2, is placed in a chamber containing cotton-wool 25 and is supported by a continuous leather loop 26 riveted to the side of the casing and secured to the receiver 24 by a snapring 27. A circuit-changing switch comprising three springs 23 is mounted on a partition 36 and is operated by a button 33 mounted on a cap 21 telescopically connected to the casing 20 and pressed outwards by a spring 22. When applied to the ear, the part 21 is held, and the pressure of the receiver against the ear causes the button 33 to operate the switch contacts 23.
