Abstract
A brake for a spinning re-spindle of which the driving-parts are enclosed in a casing, comprises a brake-member supported radially of the spindle by a bearing integral with or secured to the casing and a handle outside the casing to rotate the member into or out of engagement with the spindle, the brake member being operable through a cam-follower and a cam, one of these being secured to the brake, or to the handle, and the other to the casing or bearing. A spring may be forwarded to urge the brake towards operative position, and to adjust the bearing relatively to the casing, it may have a threaded portion extending through the casing and secured by a nut on each end of the casing.
