Abstract

1,032,021. Valves. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. Jan. 5, 1965 [Jan. 14, 1964], No. 1659/64. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] A valve, Fig. 4 (not shown), connected in a line 17 is operable to connect the supply of pressure fluid from a source 18 to either the right or left-hand portions of the line 17 and is arranged to isolate the line 17 from the source 18 in the event of a predetermined fall in pressure in the portion of the line pressurized. The valve comprises a housing 65 having movable therein two valve members 66, 67 urged by springs 68, 69 against valve seats 71, 72 to isolate the source 18 from the portions of the line 17. Each valve member 66, 67 is movable away from its seat by respective plungers 77, 78 controlled by a manually operated pivoted lever 79. In the inoperative position internal passages 81, 83 in the plungers connect the line 17 to a return line 19. When the plunger 77 is moved, the resulting pressurization of the lefthand portion of the line 17 also pressurizes a line 87 to move a piston 92 to the right against the action of a spring 93, whereby a plunger 89 slidable in the piston 92 can be manually caused to engage a recess 91 in the lever 79 in order to latch the valve in the operated position. If a fall in pressure occurs the spring 93 causes the plunger to unlatch and the valve returns to the original position. The pressurization of the line 17 may be arranged to cause operation of valves controlling the automatic advance of a mine roof support (see Division F1). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 990,837.
