Abstract

1,030,987. Hydrostatic transmissions. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. March 15, 1965 [April 6, 1964], No. 10821/65. Heading F2C. In a hydrostatic transmission the pump and motor units 14, 16 are controlled by a common swashplate 18 provided with through ports 70, 72 which, in conjunction with axial passages 76 in the pistons 28, 30, form a closed fluid circuit. The rounded ends of the pistons engage hemispherical sockets 34 on bearing plates 36 capable of radial movement in relation to drive and valve plates 42, 44, and 46, 48 to permit tilting of the swash-plate about a transverse trunnion axis 68 by a servo 69, Fig. 2 (not shown). Make-up fluid is supplied by a pump 90 to the ports 70, 72 through the trunnions which are fitted with non-return valves 94, Fig. 4 (not shown).
