Abstract

1,030,907. Microwave bridge circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. March 6, 1963 [March 15, 1962], No. 8943/63. Heading H1W. A high-frequency bridge arrangement comprises a coupled-line section a, b having four pairs of terminals, two diagonally-opposite pairs a 1 , b 2 being connected respectively to a source G and a load R A (e.g. an aerial), the other pairs of terminals being connected through reactances X to matched dissipative loads R. The reactances X are connected in parallel with the loads R and are variable between values approximately zero and infinity, the degree of mismatch introduced by the reactances determining the amount of energy transferred from the source to the load. In the embodiment shown, the coupled line is in the form of a coaxial line section having an inner conductor split over a quarter-wavelength into two overlapping strip conductors a, b. Terminals a 2 , b 1 are divided into a<SP>1</SP> 2 , a<SP>11</SP> 2 and b<SP>1</SP> 1 , b <SP>11</SP> 1 respectively and connected as shown to the matched loads R 1 , R 2 and to ganged variable stub lines S 1 , S 2 providing the reactances X. These may be variable between zero and #/4 or between #/2 and #/4.
