Abstract
A method of forming fibrous webs to produce batting, padding or stuffing material consists in feeding and laminating upon a continuously moving conveyer, which runs at right angles to a camel-back or like feed mechanism, a web from a carding machine, and spraying each lamination with a suitable liquid bonding agent. In the arrangement of Fig. 1 (not shown), the spray nozzles 6, 7 are mounted on a frame 5 which moves with the feed mechanism, the angular disposition of the nozzles being variable. The spray nozzles may be attached to a carriage 10, Fig. 2 (not shown), capable of independent motion, relative to the feed mechanism, along a rail 11, the spray nozzles in this case may be fixed, Fig. 2 (not shown) or the angular disposition of each nozzle may be variable, Fig. 3 (not shown).
