Abstract
The invention comprises a -cyano-a -hydroxypropionamide. The compound is prepared by reacting hydrogen cyanide with oximinoacetone in the presence of a catalytic quantity of an organic or inorganic base and preferably in the presence of an inert organic solvent. Several suitable bases are specified. The novel compound can be transformed by conventional methods into a -cyano-acrylamide and methyltartronamide.
