Abstract

1,030,472. Vehicle loading platforms. ACCESS EQUIPMENT Ltd. Nov. 11, 1963 [Nov. 14, 1962], No. 43123/62. Heading B8E. A device for supporting a mobile lifting platform, 10, 11, such as that described in Specifica- 1,030,471, beneath the floor of a goods vehicle comprises an H-shaped frame 20, 21 secured to the vehicle by brackets 22 and slidably supporting hangers 24a, 24b provided with supports 27 for the platform 11. The hangers each comprise a pair of spaced strips 25a, 25b interconnected by a cross-member 26, which is adapted to rest on the top of the frame members 20 and by the support 27. A tube 31 extends through apertures in the hanger 24a and through the space between the guides 20a which constitute the frame members 20 and is provided with crank arms 32. Links 33 are pivoted between the crank arms 32 and the hangers 24b so that on rotating handles 30, secured to the tube 31, in the direction 35, the hangers 24a, 24b are moved apart. Safety bars 36 pivotally connected to the hangers 24b are adapted to be held in the position shown in Fig. 3 by pins 37 passing through the bars and through the hangers 25a. In operation after the safety bars have been lowered and the hangers have been moved apart the lifting platform is raised until the platform 11 is above the level of the supports 27 which are then moved towards each other by the handle 30 to engage beneath the platform 11. The ram 12 is then retracted to raise the base frame 10 and the safety bars are locked in their operative position beneath the base frame 10. Leaf springs 39 mounted on the frame crossmember 21 are adapted to bear resiliently on the stowed platform 11.
