Abstract

103,015. Gamwell, A. Feb. 1, 1916. Teeth, artificial.-A #-shaped base-metal pin is secured to a porcelain tooth after baking, and without the use of solder or cement, by forcing or springing its ends into inclined passages moulded in the tooth body. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the tooth a is formed with inclined passages b, c enlarged at their outer ends and spaced apart laterally. The pin d, preferably made of steel and with hardened ends, is bent so that its ends are inclined to correspond with the passages b, c and is forced into place by pliers. A strengthening-lug e may be formed on the back of the tooth between the openings to the passages b, c. In a modification, Fig. 3, the passages b, c are inclined away from each other. In other modifications, the passage may be arranged transversely of the tooth or in other directions.
