Abstract
102,910. Attwood, A. Sept. 9, 1916. Air-pressure sprayers. - In air brushes of the kind described in Specification 1832/12, the needle valve, needle carriage, spring control, and means connected therewith for controlling the air valve can be withdrawn together from the casing on the release of locking- means, and the air valve and its seating may easily be removed for cleaning. The paint needle a, Fig. 1, is clamped on the split end of the needle carriage o by a nut o<2> and passes through a sleeve, the rear end of which has a collar and slides in the member t attached to the needle carriage o. A spring v closes the needle valve, and another weaker spring t prevents the opening of the air valve. On moving the trigger g, the block p is moved, opening the air valve j in the handle by means of the ball attached to the stem j<1>; and afterwards moving the paint needle, the movement of which is limited by the adjustable stop m<1>. The paint needle &c. can be removed for cleaning by unscrewing the sleeve m. The air valve, with its seating, can be removed by unscrewing the handle and sleeve i. A lateral-spraying device, Fig. 3, may be provided, comprising an open frame w screwed in the air nozzle c and furnished with an adjustable plug x, against which the paint impinges and is deflected laterally.
