Abstract

1 - Methylcyclohexene - 1 is obtained by isomerization of 1-methylcyclohexene-2 or -3 in the presence of an alkali or alkaline earth metal or amide thereof in liquid ammonia. The amount of catalyst and conditions used are not critical and 100% yields are reported.
