Abstract

In the process for the production of a bearing material described in the parent Specification the rubber solution is replaced by phenolic resin. The latter is added to the P.T.F.E./lead mixture in a dry form in an amount of 2 to 12% and subsequent evaporating of solvent is therefore unnecessary, the bearing material is heated to a temperature of 327 DEG C. to convert crystalline P.T.F.E. to amorphous P.T.F.E. A thin base layer of phenolic resin may be mixed with a solvent and applied direct on to the substrate, or a combination of phenolic resin and rubber solution may be applied. The phenolic resin may be replaced by silicon and epoxy resins, for example.
