Abstract

Isocyanates of general formula <FORM:1024803/C2/1> wherein R1 is Cl or Br, R2 is alkyl possibly substituted by aryl, isocyanate or arylisocyanate radicals, x is 1-5,y 1-3 and z 0-3 (when z is 0 at least one R2 is isocyanatoalkyl), are prepared by halogenating the compounds (x=0) and converting impurities of halogenoalkyl compounds prior to removal to a difficultly volatile form by treatment with a nucleophilic aromatic compound in presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst.
