Abstract

1,024,310. Feeding web-roll cores. BIRCH BROS. Inc. Feb. 27, 1964, No. 8157/64. Heading B8S. [Also in Divisions B6 and G1] In the web winding machine, Fig. 6, three driven winding drums 8, 8a and 8b are provided. Drum 8 defines a first winding station and drums 8a and 8b define a second winding station. Webroll shells or cores are fed into the machine via a magazine M, and a device M12 inserts a core into a pair of jaws at the first winding station. The device M12 comprises a pair of bell-crank levers pivoted at M13 actuated by a pair of fluid cylinders M15. The curved part of the device M12 is provided with a curved plate M18 which blocks off the magazine M when a core is inserted into the first winding station, as shown in Fig. 10.
