Abstract
1,023,400. Dial gauges. ENGINEERING PRODUCTS Ltd. Feb. 12, 1965, No. 6268/65. Heading G1M. An adjustable support for high-sensitivity apparatus, comprises a bar 1 which is necked over a length 2 thereof, a rigid sleeve member 6 integral or integrated with said bar adjacent one end of said necked length and extending over and beyond the other end of the latter with play between the member 6 and the bar beyond said other end, and means 12 for acting on said bar beyond said other end to flex the same about said necked length, the bar or sleeve member being adapted for fitment thereto of high sensitivity apparatus. The necked length 2 has opposed substantially plane parallel faces 4, 5. The sleeve 6 is of annular cross-section and fits closely round the end 3 of the bar and is connected thereto by a screw 9. In the embodiment shown the end closure 7 of the sleeve has a screw thread 11 for mounting the high sensitivity apparatus. The means for flexing the bar 2 includes a tapped hole in the bar and an opening 13 in the sleeve through which extends an adjusting screw 12. The bar is initially deformed so that it contacts the opposite wall of the sleeve to the opening 13 to give maximum play.
