Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions comprise dipotassium mucate and a carrier, provided that if the carrier is water and/or alcohol the composition also contains an additional pharmaceutical ingredient which is compatible with the dipotassium mucate. The compositions may contain a chloride. They may be administered orally or rectally, e.g. as tablets, cachets, capsules, suspensions or suppositories.
