Abstract

The invention comprises acyl derivatives of glycyrrhalinic acid wherein the acyl group is of the formula R.CO, in which R is a straight or branched aliphatic radical of 3-19 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical optionally bearing a carboxylic acid group as a substituent, and their preparation by acylating glycyrrhetinic acid with the appropriate acid or its anhydride or acid chloride. Specified products include n-butyrylisobutyryl-lauroyl, benzoyl- and 2-carboxybenzoyl - 18b - glycyrrhetinic acid and lauroyl-18a -glycyrrhetinic acid.
