Abstract
1,022,327. Testing the vitality of teeth; cauterising. CHIRANA PRAHA NARODNI PODNIK. May 20, 1964 [May 21, 1963], No. 20780/64. Headings A5K and A5R. A dental appliance comprises a handle containing an adjustable resistance 1, a resistor 2, a switch 9, and contacts 3, 7, 8, and a probe electrode 4 and cauterising wire 6, either the electrode or the wire being fitted to the contacts in the handpiece to provide current for testing a tooth or a cauterising device respectively. When using the probe electrode, the electric circuit is completed via a casing 15 on the handle, the dentist 5, and the patient, and the current is monitored by an amplifier and loudspeaker. Separate current sources are provided to the electrode and cauterising wire, that to the latter being a low voltage D.C. source.
