Abstract

102,231. Lord, F. W. July 10, 1916. Setting-out ground.--A boundary-line marker for tennis courts or other purposes comprises a channel-shaped strip of tin, sheet iron, or other flexible material, Fig. 2, formed with a number of teeth. Some of the teeth 3<1> may have their free ends bent. When driven into the ground, the teeth, on meeting obstructions such as stones, are deflected independently of one another and afford a firmer connexion with the ground. The marker may be rolled up as shown in Fig. 7. Square corners may be turned by removing some of the teeth and bending the marker by means of a forked tool, Fig. 8, having triangular prongs. The upper surface 1, Fig. 2, of the marker may be roughened by applying. a coating of paint and sand; or angular cross-cuttings may be produced on the surface by the dies used in the manufacture of the markers. In Fig. 15, the surface roughening is shown in the form of intersecting circular arcs.
