Abstract
1,020,929. Measuring fluid flow. DEPUTY MINISTER OF THE RUMANIAN MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM AND CHEMICAL INDUSTRY. June 11, 1964 [June 11, 1963], No. 24310/64. Heading G1R. In a method of or apparatus for discharging and metering liquids from two groups A, B of oil and gas separators each group of which comprises a main separator 1 and an interconnected metering separator 2 the production from an oil well is led through a-line 14 to a pneumatically controlled three way valve 15 which directs the fluid to one or other of the two separator groups A, B, delivering the fluid to the separator 1 where the liquidgas separation is effected. The liquid flows through a pipe 6 to a metering separator 2 where it raises a float 3 which, on reaching a maximum level, actuates a lever 4 to move a slide valve 21 downwards to allow gas actuating diaphragm 10 of a pneumatic valve 7 to be moved to allow a valve 8 to be opened by a spring 11 and the liquid from the separators 1, 2 to be discharged and recorded by a counter (not shown). At the same time gas from a separator 1 is led through a filter 24, pressure reducer 25, line 27 and the check valve 28 to actuate the three way valve 15 to shut the inlet to the separator group B and to open the inlet to the separator group A. Gas, under pressure, also enters a line 29 and passes a check valve 30 to actuate valve 7 in the group A to keep valve 8 closed. The valve 8 is also acted upon by gas pressure through line 26. When the liquid level in group B drops to a minimum the float 3 operates a lower lever 4 to move the slide 21 upwards permitting gas under pressure to pass through line 26, to close valve 7, and through line 27 to the valve 15 which does not change its position since by closing check valve 28 by the pressure in line 29 the pressure in valve remains the same. The filling discharge cycle is identically repeated in separator group A and the three way valve 15 changes its position when the valve 7 opens owing to the removal of pressure in lines 26, 29 when these lines are placed in communication with the pipe 22 by the float 3 actuating the upper lever 4 of group A. An overflow signal device 5 is provided. A manual control 31 is also provided should a breakdown occur in one or other of separator groups A or B.
