101,996. Williams, A., and Williams, L. D. Feb. 15, 1916. Thermal instruments.-In a receiver of the thermo-telephone type, the voice currents pass through a bridge of metal foil or leaf. The foil may be of gold, silver, platinum, aluminium, or alloys. The best results are stated to be obtained by using gold leaf of such thickness that it transmits green light and having a width of about 1 mm. The Provisional Specification states that spongy gold leaf is best.
