Abstract

[Also in Division H5] The plug contact for an electric cooking vessel 23 comprises an insulating member 36 which, with its fellow 51 comprises the handle of the vessel and which carries contacts in the form of metal inserts 41-44 each threadedly engaged to a screw 50. The inserts 41-44 and screws 50 are sealed by O-rings 45, hat seals 47 and insulating washers 48, and screws 50 are connected to leads from the vessel heating element and temperature sensing device. The vessel 23 is energized by inserting the handle 36 through an aperture 52 in the panel of a cooking range or oven top, Figs. 1 and 11 (not shown), so that inserts 41-44 engage spring contact blades 55-58 which are connected to the supply through a push-button switch 63 closed by engagement of the handle 36. The aperture 52 may be screened by normallyclosed shutters, Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown), and modifications may be made to the number, shape and disposition of the contacts 41-44, 55-58, e.g. the inserts 41-44 may be tubular and may be double-headed to engage pairs of spring blades 55-58.
