Abstract

[Also in Division B6] The passage of a perforated record card past a row of sensing photo-cells 11 is detected by two additional photo-cells 10, 15. A timing disc 12, in conjunction with a photo-cell 14, produces four pulses as each column (or row) of a card passes photo-cells 11, a gate 19 controlled by triggers 17, 18 passing every fourth pulse while photo-cell 10 is obscured by a card. Amplifier 20 receives the outputs from sensing cells 11. Photo-cell 10 also controls the feeding of cards from a magazine 1. Drive rollers 8 may be of steel and extend beyond the edges of the cards in the transport path. The co-operating rollers 9 may be rubber-surfaced, a pair of such rollers being provided for each roller 8, and each roller 9 of a pair extending at one end beyond the card edge so as to be directly engaged by roller 8.
