Abstract

Anhydrous trioxane is copolymerized with ethylene oxide, 1,3-dioxane 4-phenyl-1,3-dioxane, and/or styrene oxide in the presence of organic perchloric acid compounds as catalysts. The preferred ratio of trioxane to comonomer is 4 to 64 mols to 1. Nitrobenzene may be employed as solvent while acetyl perchlorate is the specified catalyst.
