Abstract

In a gating or chopping circuit employing a field-effect transistor, the effect of leakage current in the transistor is minimized by means of a compensating voltage applied over a path including a reverse-connected semi-conductor diode having a leakage current/temperature characteristic equivalent to that of the transistor. The compensating planar diode may have a leakage current identical to that of the field effect transistor employed as a chopper in a modulator/demodulator amplifier and may be supplied with the inverse chopping waveform. Alternatively, a diode having a leakage current greater than that of the field effect transistor may be employed by reducing the compensating voltage or by shunting the compensating current.
