Abstract

1,016,927. Synchronizing. AGMADE Ltd. April 13, 1964 [April 19, 1963], No. 15623/63. Heading G5R. [Also in Division G2] Apparatus for simultaneously examining a strip of cinematograph film and one or more further strips carrying optical or magnetic sound tracks in order to determine whether the strips are satisfactorily synchronized includes a system for stabilizing the projected image of each frame as the frame moves and for rapidly switching from one frame to the next. The stabilizing system includes a rotating octagonal prism. Sprockets 10 and 12 for the picture strip 11 and sound strip 13 respectively are geared to a common handwheel (not shown) and to the octagonal prism 33. The image is reflected at 38, 39 and 40 and projected on to a translucent screen 41. A magnetic head 28 plays back the sound track. The strips have perforations on one side only (the right-hand sides in the Figure) and slide over guides on their other sides.
