Abstract
A process for the production of polyurethanes by the reaction of an organic polyisocyanate and an hydroxyl group-containing polymer containing at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule is effected in the presence of a compound of formula <FORM:1015615/C3/1> in which R is phenyl or cyclohexyl which may be substituted at one or more of the 3, 4 or 5 positions by methyl or ethyl radicals, n is a positive integer having a value from 1-4 and the radicals R1, which may be the same or different, are each hydrogen, methyl or ethyl. Tertiary amines specified are: N-(2-phenyl-ethyl) pyrrolidine, N - (2 - phenylethyl) piperidine, N - (2 - phenylethyl) aziridine or a corresponding N - (2 - (p - tolyl) ethyl), N - (2-cyclohexylethyl) or N - (2 - (4 - methylcyclohexyl) ethyl) compound. The hydroxyl containing starting material may be a polyester, polyether or polyesteramide. Foams may be be produced by incorporating water or a halogenated hydrocarbon in the reaction mixture.
