Abstract

An adjustable drainage structure to be set in a concrete floor comprises a cylindrical drain access body 10 connectible to a drain pipe and a tubular member 15 supporting a grate 19, loosely and telescopically supported by the body 10, co-operating means on both the body 10 and the grate-supporting member 15 comprising two inter-engaging stepped surfaces carried on the exterior cylindrical wall of the body 10 and on the tubular wall of the member 15, respectively, for the vertical adjustment of the member 15 relative to the surface of the finished concrete floor. The body 10 and the member 15 may be secured by a set screw 18 carried by the member 15. There are abutments 14 between contiguous ends of the interengaging surfaces when the member 15 is in its lowest position on the body 10. The stepped surfaces may comprise substantially helical crown cams 12, 17 formed on the wall of the body 10 and on an extension 22 of the supporting member 15, respectively, the cams 17 being slidably interengageable and complementary with the cams 12. The extension 22 is loosely telescoped over a collar 13 of the body 10 closed thereat by a removeable plug or grate 11. The grate 19, the surface 23 of which is grooved or in the form of a grating, rests on a flange 20 in the member 15 and has a recess which is filled with material which matches the floor when the surface 23 is not to be flush with it. The cover plate 19 and the member 15 are secured to the grate 11 by a screw.
