Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A fastening tie for a set of parallel co-planar pipes 1 consists of two halves 2a adapted to be placed in face to face relationship on either side of said set so as to straddle said pipes and to be tightened one against the other, each of the halves including a pad 4 made of resilient material adapted to contact the pipes with one of its faces and encased or swaged within a rigid channel-shaped stiffener 7 on the opposite side from said face. The pipe contacting face of the pad 4 may be formed with semi-circular grooves for receiving the pipes. The pad 4 is held in the stiffener 7 by projections 8, the stiffener being suitably shaped to receive these projections. The two halves are tightened on the pipes by bolts 3 (not shown) through holes 10, 11 interspaced between the grooves. The resilient material of the pads enables the ties to absorb and damp-down the pipe vibrations. The pads used may consist of several sections positioned at any required spacings within the same stiffener.
