Abstract

1,014,333. Sawing stone. DIAMANT BOART. May 29, 1962 [May 29, 1961], No. 20700/62. Heading B5L. A machine for sawing stone comprises a table 21 for supporting a stone block 1, a frame 4 (not shown) carrying at least one blade and adapted to reciprocate and have a downward feed movement, and means for rocking the table about an axis perpendicular to the desired cut, to which axis is imparted a reciprocating motion co-directional with the feed motion and synchronous with the rocking motion of the table. The saw frame 4 is guided during its reciprocating movement by rollers 5 running on the machine frame 2 and reciprocated by means of a crank 11 and connector rod 10 driven, via a flywheel-cumpulley 13, by a motor 15, the frame being raised or lowered by means of a rotatable threaded shaft 18. The table 21 is pivotally mounted on a carriage 22 by means of a shaft 26 and end bearings 27 slidable in guides 28 on the carriage. The table is provided with rollers 29 which ride on cams 30 rotated by means of a chain-and-sprocket drive 33, 34, 36, 37, this drive being connected to a gearbox 42 driven by means of an electric motor 64, via a speed-reducing gear-box 65. The positioning of the cams 30 is such that as one end of the table rises, the other end lowers correspondingly. The direction of drive cams is reversed by means of electromagnetic clutches 60, 61 coupling, alternatively, different gears within the box 42, the clutches being actuated by means of micro-switches 58, 59 through a rotatable lever 57. The amplitude of the rocking movement may be varied by adjusting the distance between the switches by means of a hand wheel 63 and screwed-rod 62.
