Abstract

1,014,178. Coating wire. C. F. BETTNER. Sept. 18, 1962, No. 35439/62. Heading D1L. A die for determining the thickness of a coating applied to a wire comprises two side walls, an additional portion extending inwardly from each side wall, a bushing having a passage way therethrough, the bushing being carried by the additional portions and divided in a plane intersecting the passageway, and locking means for preventing relative movement between the divided parts of the bushing in a direction parallel to the dividing plane, the divisions of the bushing being biased together. In the embodiment shown a bushing holder 10 having side walls 11 and 12 with inwardly extending top portions 13 and 14 supports two halves 18,19 of bushing 20. Also extending from walls 11, 12 are two intermediate portions 21, 22 the former having a recess 23, 24 which receives a projection extending from the portion 22 so as to prevent any movement between the two halves 18, 19 of bushing 20 in the direction of the plane dividing them. A bottom portion 28 having a slot 29 therein is so formed as to spring urge the two halves of bushing 20 into contact with each other.
