Abstract

Antioxidants and/or light stabilizers are added to polymers by rinsing a solid polymer with a solution of the additive containing at least 0.0001% by weight of the additive. The preferred polymers are crystalline polypropylene and crystalline poly-4-methylpentene-1. Suitable stabilizers are substituted acrylonitriles, substituted benztriazoles and substituted benzophenones. Suitable antioxidants are trithianes, cyanoethyl compounds, aromatic amino compounds, hindered phenols and sulphur-containing compounds.
