Abstract
1,013,423. Local copying by scanning; colour reproduction. WALL PAPER MANUFACTURERS Ltd. Jan. 15, 1964 [Jan. 30, 1963], No. 3920/63. Heading H4F. A coloured original 4 is scanned by photoelectric cells 10 responsive to red, green and blue light and the resulting signals applied through amplifiers 10 to amplitude selectors 12 whose output control switches connected in the circuit of a lamp 13 arranged to expose a sensitive surface 5 scanned synchronously with the original. Each amplitude selector selects a value of the input signal greater or less than a predetermined amplitude, or lying between two predetermined amplitudes. The circuit of lamp 13 may therefore be arranged to be completed only when the original exhibits a predetermined colour. The amplitude selectors may comprise biased diode or transistor gates. Alternatively the selectors and switches may be combined in the form of electro-mechanical relays. The photo-electric cells include multiplier sections one dynode of which is energized by a pulsating voltage from a source 14 so that the generated signals are suitable for translation in alternating current circuits. According to a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), three groups of selectors controlling three recording lamps are provided so as to permit the production of records corresponding to three different colours in the original. Engraving, routing and magnetic recording is referred to as an alternative to photographic recording. A detailed construction of an assembly for photo-electric cells 10 and light source 6 is described, Fig. 2 (not shown).
